no use cryin' over spilled milk

We had a crazy weekend. A busy, crazy, fun weekend.

I managed to get some grocery shopping done though.

My wonderful husband put the groceries away for me, he really is that wonderful : )

And as he picked up the gallon of milk

It slipped out of his hand and onto the floor.

The side of the jug burst open and the whole gallon flooded my freshly mopped kitchen floor.

We both stared in shock for a few seconds and then started the mad rush to grab towels to stop it from running under the stove and fridge.

As we cleaned it up we both laughed about it.

It's true what they say... "No use crying over spilt milk."

My Organized Mess

Set aside that we live in a cheap old rental basement apartment I love our house. I really do. I love that it's our first home together and I love all the fun projects we've done to make it look how it does. I really am happy with how all the rooms look except for one....

Our office/craft room.

It's one half office/study desk/ video game station, and one half craft area/desk/work table. And it's a total mess. I've cleaned and organized it a million times but it always seems to look the same. Weird huh? I won't even post pictures, but trust me, it's ugly (I can say that about my own house right?).

We don't have the right furniture for the space, we can't paint, there's no curtains, not enough room, I'm too cheap to invest in containers for my shelf : ) ..... The list goes on and on.

So, I will just dream about a more beautiful work space that I will have someday, (the hubby already promised it : ) I would accept any of these.

Enjoy the eye candy!

I love the girly feel of this one! The lavender is so sweet and calm.

This is just so glamorous and fabulous!

Such a funky fun space.

I think I just love the ceiling and rafters in the office, but whatever the reason, it's beautiful!

The color of the walls is delicious! I'll take it in my bedroom too!

I love love love this one! It's so darling I think I'd spend all day here if I had it.

I love how pretty this room feels and the vintage feel.

This is just dreamy!

How cute is this! And it used to be a closet! It makes me want to wallpaper all of our closets!

This is such a sweet little organized space

I hope you enjoyed these wonderful work spaces! If you've done any makeovers or have any ideas for my sad little space then please do share!

Graduation Weekend

This last weekend my husband graduated with his undergrad in Business Management. I am so proud of him! As I sat through the graduation ceremonies my heart swelled with love and pride for my wonderful husband. He is so smart, hardworking, motivated, successful, and talented! I felt so honored to be his wife! He has just been accepted to law school at Vanderbilt Law in Nashville Tennessee and we can't wait for the start of that journey and adventure!

Both our families came to Utah this weekend to celebrate his accomplishment. It was a great weekend! We had dinner with his family on Thursday night and visited his grandparents. We had dinner with both our families on Friday night at our house, (it's always a tight fit but the the more the merrier!) We had every chair in the house pulled into our skinny living room, people piled on the couch and sitting on blankets on the floor. What a fun night! Then on Saturday I threw him a graduation BBQ. We did a blue theme and I made lots of homemade decorations. I'll do a post on the details later : ) Then we went dress shopping for my sister. This was a really special experience because she is kind of my baby sister and up until this point I have either been the little sister or the bride! She found the most gorgeous and timeless dress! I will post pictures after her May wedding. Then B and I watched our cousins darling twins (her blog is here) and then last but not least had a sleepover with my two younger sisters. Definitely a fabulous and fun filled weekend! I am so grateful for families!

It was fun to be the hostess this weekend. It made me grateful for my mom, mother in law, and sisters who are such wonderful hostess'!

Mirror Obsessed

I am loving mirrors! I am not sure when this happened, but I realized yesterday (when I was about to buy another mirror) that in our small two bedroom apartment we have four mirrors! And that's not counting the bathroom.

I have two in the living room.

One in the hall way

And my wonderful garage sale find just wandering around the house.

My Grammy gave me the rectangle one in the living room. She bought it in Mexico awhile ago and I told her I loved it so many times she finally gave it to me : ) It originally had blue and white tile around the mirror and I have mod podge about three different papers to it. I may have to get back to the blue tiles though since I am loving the color blue as of late! (I am so fickle sometimes : )

Any ideas for what I should do with the gold framed mirror? Of course I just can't just leave it the way I found it.

Thrifting and Garage Sales

Ever since I was a little girl I have always loved garage sales and thrift stores. My best shopping has always been done there. I'm not sure who's fault it is or if I just came that way but I love a good yard sale and I love the prices! (I'm cheap though so what do ya expect?!) There is just something about driving down the street and seeing people and junk filling a yard and drive way that just makes my heart pitter patter. I love all the old things, all the things that someone else doesn't want but that I will love, and I love knowing that someone else once loved and used the thing before me. Most of our house is made up of garage sale, Savers, and craigslist finds : ) And I LOVE it!

Today I went garage saleing (that should be a word) with my very wonderful and supportive husband! He doesn't really "get" the whole thing but he was there, bright and early carrying all my finds and telling me to get something if I was unsure. He's so sweet : )

I found some fabulous things today! We are getting a new camera this week! Yay, so pictures will follow shortly.

A cute white table cloth. Cost: $0.50
It fits our table perfectly!

A cookbook called "High Energy Cooking". Cost: $1
I love to cook and am always looking for new but good recipes.

New book called "Family Home". Cost: $1
It's all about having a beautiful and functional home, especially once kids come along. Perfect for our kind of home.

A bunch of silk ties. Cost: $1
I saw a post on another blog about dying Easter eggs using the silk from ties! So darling! We are a little late for it this year but I'm stockin' up for next!

Framed mirror. Cost: $1 (That seems to be the magical number : )
I used to have a frame just like this that I got at an estate sale with my Grammy (I'm seeing a trend here : ) Plus I love mirrors! So I was sold as soon as I saw it!

Wooden letter G: Cost: $0.50
My little baby sister just got engaged (so crazy!), and her new last name will be Garven. I have a monogram on our picture wall that I love so I want to make one for my sister too!

I also got a big box of toys! Cost: $4.00
We don't have kids yet, but I am a nanny and we are aunts and uncles so we really need toys!
(There is a hippo that blows bubbles and a hammer that make boing and ding noises when you hit something with it!)

Wow, what a long post! But I love finding treasures! Have you found any good ones lately? If so, please share : )
