A few crazy months....

Wow we have had so much going on lately I have not posted in forever!

And I need to, it helps me feel focused, and calm, and healthy.

I took a two week trip to my sister's at the beginning of July, then a few days to Duck Creek UT for a family reunion and then we moved to Nashville.

We have been here for about two weeks and so far love it!

It's been a great experience so far and think we will be able to feel at home here.

My husband starts law school this week, (I'm not sure I'm ready for it, but it's happening whether I like it or not so here it goes : )

I need to find a job : )

We sure have a great life though.

Last night on the way home from my sister's, at 2 am because we just have too much fun with her and her husband and kids, I said to my husband

"today was a good day..."

and as we talked I realized pretty much all of our days are good days.

We are so blessed.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Things I love!

Hello!

I have been thinking a lot lately about wanting things I can't have.... Like a house, or walls that aren't white, or nice furniture, or a craft room, or a chandelier, or a dining room table that seats 12 people. The list goes on and on!

But we're just not in that stage of life right now and that is so ok! So I started thinking about the beautiful things in our home and the beautiful things I DO have. I can honestly say they make me happy every single day!

Iceland poppies in the flower bed. I walk by these every time I come in or out of the house and I love them! I love watching them bloom and seeing them change colors!

These darling measuring spoons! They are called love beyond measure. A little cheesy but they make me smile every time I use them!

Our white duvet cover. I love it! No this isn't our bed, isn't it dreamy though! But I scored ours and two pillow cases for $10 bucks so that makes it even sweeter.

This poster in my living room. One it's black and white which I totally love, it's super romantic, and my wonderful husband got it for me as a surprise.

Our silverware. How cute is it? Come on it's all swirly and fun but totally chic at the same time!
And last but certainly not least, my white dishes. These may possibly my most favorite thing that I own! I mean they look so fresh and crisp and food just instantly looks more wonderful when served on beautiful white dishes : )

So there you have it, a short list of things I have that I love, and a smaller reminder to myself of how very blessed I am : )

Have a great day!

Love Story

"The greatest love story ever told....
Is your own."

I saw this quote on a trailer for the movie Letters to Juliet. (I haven't seen it yet but heard it was wonderful!)

It made me think about my wonderful love. My amazing husband. I am so lucky to be his wife, and every day I am in awe of him. We are so in love and never grow tired of each other. In fact I hate being away from him.

I love our love story.

Living Room Inspiration and Eye Candy

Hello! I have not blogged in a long time! Which is O.K. because I have been trying not to obsess over my house lately and not blogging as much has helped with that.

I love blog land and all the wonderful ideas out there but a lot of times it just makes me hate my basement rental apartment.

However, we are moving soon, to start law school yipee! and will be moving into a "nicer" place. I can not wait! It's still just a two bedroom condo but it has natural light and... wait for, hard wood floors. I think I am in cheap apartment heaven!

So on a very tight budget I am thinking of what I want to do in the living in our soon to be new home. I currently have lots of black and white, some lime green which I LOVE and some dark purple and teal. Trust me it looks better than it sounds : )

But I have been wanting to get rid of the purple and teal and focus more on the green. I can't explain it but I think it's the only color and theme in our house I haven't gotten sick of so I'm stickin with it! My only question has been if I should incorporate another color ( I was thinking yellow) and what feel I wanted the room to have.

And then tonight while looking at pictures for this post, it hit me! I can just stick with the black, white and green! It's what I love so just work with it. So thank you blog for helping that just click, I love it when that happens. So anyways enjoy the rest of the pictures!

This is it! This is the picture that made it all click for me, I want this living room! I love the feel and the colors!

This one feels so fresh and fun! I love the soft freshness of green : )

So soft and pretty! I'm thinking white furniture is worth all the work of keepin' it clean.

This green is a little darker or sage than I want to go but I am loving that little shutter on the table!

This one is very modern and cool. I love the modern look but it doesn't seem comfortable or inviting, two things a home should always be.

This is also darling! I can just picture our stuff in this room, wood floors and all : )

I think this would be my happy place. it's like sunshine.

This is a fantastic blend of modern, comfortable, and vintage!

Love love love this room! All that white, yellow, and green is just gorgeous! It's the perfect blend!

This also has a great blend of modern pieces with more traditional pieces. It's a tough look to pull off but looks great when done right!

Hope you enjoyed all the wonderful pictures! Have a great week!

Wisdom and Migraines

OK so for the last few months my wisdom teeth have really been hurting me. So I decided last week to have them taken out on Friday. I've never had any kind of medical or dental anything done so I was a little nervous. The surgery went great and thanks to the anesthetic I don't really remember anything until later that afternoon.

My husband has been taking amazing care of me (I'm trying not to brag but trust me, better than most people's mom do for them : )

I've been icing constantly so I was hardly swollen at all

and I've been eating nothing but milkshakes, instant strawberry oatmeal (the yummy kind not the healthy kind : ) and chocolate pudding.

Life has been pretty good.

On Sunday afternoon I fell asleep at about 3 pm and didn't wake up until Tuesday at 11 am. I got a migraine, the worst I've ever had, sometime on Sunday night. Let's just say it was so bad we almost went to the hospital, and the only reason we didn't is because I didn't want to move or go into any form of light. Anyways, thanks to lots of prayers and medicine I am now feeling much much better! I've spent the last 5 days in bed and am ready to get some things done! Hopefully this next week I'll be able to work on some projects and have some fun little things to show off. Wish me luck!

This is kind of what it feels like : (

No pictures and my excuse and apology

Ok so I hate when bloggers only post like once a week or even worst, once a month. And I'm one of them! Not sure if anyone even really looks at my blog but in an effort to not be a horrible hypocrite I am sorry. Things have just felt so busy lately! My little sister got married this month so we made a trip "back home" for that (it was wonderful and beautiful by the way) and I just got my wisdom teeth out I'm sitting with an ice pack wrapped around my face as I type, so give me a break : )

I have a couple of things I want to post but blogger won't let me upload pictures, not really sure why, so they will just have to wait. I always say that I'll go back and add pictures to a post but then I never really do. I'm sorry about that too : )

Anyways, I had some beautiful lilacs on my table last week that I cut from a friends yard. She didn't even know what lilacs were! That just seems wrong to me. Of course, all my mom ever wanted for Mother's Day was a hug and kiss and a basket of lilacs so.... I may be a little tainted.

Hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend! I was hoping to hit up some garage sales this weekend, I'm looking for new dining room chairs, wish me luck!

Pottery Barn Candle Holders

These darling little jars have been everywhere lately it seems! I think they are just so pretty I want them all over my house! I was ahead of my time however because I made similar ones months ago to hang in my kitchen above the table! I honestly never look at Pottery Barn anything, I just always see their cutest stuff on everyone else's fabulous blogs!

I think these have the most wonderful beachy cottage feel

Forgive the horrible picture please : ) I'm still learning

Ta da! My little hanging jars. I found three different little glass jars (I got one at Wal-Mart and the others at Savers for $1 a piece.)
Filled them with white sand from the dollar store.
Found the candles for a total of $1.50
Bought the wire at Home Depot for $4. I wish I could tell you how I made the wire hanger but I really just played around with the wire for each jar! Just make sure your jar has enough of a lip for the wire to catch on.
And hung them from ribbon.
Turned our pretty cute huh?

Total: $9.50

Not bad if you ask me, or the hubby ; )

To buy three from pottery barn would have been $22.50

I made this post specifically so I could link up to the we can do it cheaper link party at the Virginia House. It's a wonderful little link party so go take a look!
